
What do you do with leftover fried chicken scent in October?
You make an 11 herbs and spices aroma filled fire log to kick off the holiday season.
KFC wanted to create a unique and limited edition experience for their consumers during the holiday season. After the massive hit of the fried chicken scented sunscreen, there was a surplus of custom fried chicken scent that was set to be destroyed. Rather than waste the scent, the team at Edelman came up with some innovative ideas to use it. With that, the 11 Herbs & Spices fire log was born. With a very tight deadline to make this concept a reality for the 2018 holiday season, I teamed up with our copywriter and got to designing the packaging.
The fire log was wildly successful with our consumers, it sold out in less than three hours on a microsite. Jimmy Kimmel, amongst many other media outlets, covered the product, leading to thousands of earned brand stories and millions of impressions for KFC.
Winner in the Graphic Design USA's American Package Design Awards. Received an honorable mention at the DSVC Dallas Show 2019.
